RoomLock.in is built as a direct-to-owner room rental platform for students, working professionals, and families to connect with verified hosts without middlemen.
However, real estate brokers and commercial lead aggregators sometimes attempt to register as tenants to harvest landlord or caretaker phone numbers for commission-based resale. This Fair Usage Policy establishes rules to safeguard host privacy and keep the platform clean.
2. Personal & Non-Commercial Use Only
Your RoomLock account is for your personal room search only. You are strictly forbidden from sharing unlocked owner or caretaker phone numbers with brokers or third parties.
When you create an account on RoomLock.in, you agree that:
- Personal Housing Search: You are unlocking host contacts solely to find residential accommodation for yourself or your family/roommates.
- No Account Sharing: You will not share your login credentials or unlocked contact list with real estate agents or commercial agencies.
- Prohibition of Resale: You will never charge money or ask for a fee in exchange for sharing an owner contact obtained from RoomLock.in.
3. Complete Ban on Real Estate Brokers (Zero Brokerage)
Commercial real estate brokers and commission-seeking middlemen are strictly banned from unlocking contacts on RoomLock.in. (Note: Authorized caretakers or managers who do not charge brokerage from tenants are welcome).
Real estate brokers, commission agents, and commercial lead buyers are strictly prohibited from registering as tenants or unlocking owner phone numbers on RoomLock.in.
If an account is identified as belonging to a broker soliciting listings or demanding commission from users, the account will be immediately terminated without a refund.
4. Anti-Scraping & Usage Safeguards
To protect property owners from automated scraping and spam, our platform monitors account activity for abnormal access patterns. Our limits are comfortably calibrated for normal human use.

RoomLock.in reserves the absolute right to suspend or permanently delete any account that we suspect violates our policies or engages in spam, without any prior notice or refund.
When a Fair Usage Policy violation (such as broker infiltration, data scraping, or host harassment) is suspected or confirmed by our system:
- Right to Terminate: RoomLock.in reserves the right, at its sole and absolute discretion, to suspend, restrict, or permanently terminate your account without prior notice if we suspect or determine that you have breached these guidelines.
- No Liability or Refund: The offending profile will be permanently disabled, and any fees paid (including the unlock fee) will be strictly non-refundable.
- Blacklisting: The associated phone number, email address, and IP address may be permanently blacklisted across our network to prevent future access.
